The first project in support to cultural heritage monuments of great importance for Cyprus was launched in 2012 and implemented by UNDP. Between 2012 and 2026, nine EC funded projects were implemented, while in June 2026, an agreement was signed for 2.5 million Euros, for Phase 10 of the EC funded project for the support to cultural heritage monuments of great importance in Cyprus.
Since 2012 approximately € 53.9 million has been contributed by several donors, benefiting over 210 cultural heritage sites across Cyprus, to implement the priorities of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Cyprus island-wide.
In addition to physical conservation of cultural heritage sites, TCCH projects include the preparation of designs for each of the monuments and sites that are under consideration, engaging local communities for the protection and preservation of Cyprus’ cultural heritage. Moreover, TCCH also provides educational opportunities and engages with students and youth, contributing towards building the next generation of custodians for Cyprus’ shared cultural heritage of the island of Cyprus.
